Quick way to run multiple instances of D2?

I'd like to run multiple instances of D2 Annihilus, which is possible from the launcher. However, it becomes a hassle to load launch all the instances and join a game. Has anyone have an automated way to launch client, login and select char, join game, etc.

Also, is it normal that all my instances log out after leaving the active game?

And lastly, what is the maximum number of instances can I have running at a time, anyone knows?

You can have 8 max connections per ip, thats 8x16 = 128 chars/games, but unfortunately there is no legit tool for auto launcher/joiner.
When you join with multiple chars on same account, only one last joined char stays online, so the rest disconnect when leaving game
