There are only a few books available on the server despite the amount of time the ladder has been going on which is why the price is so high (much rare than any other item in this game)

If I'm not mistaken Mephisto and myself both have a couple and this user has one - other than that I was not made aware of any other active user who has one (leave alone being for sale)

The reason there are so few is more of a function of the amount of people on the server, not so much on how rare it is
On top of he is asking for $300 worth of gold.

What someone is asking for and what someone sells for are 2 totally different things.

To your point, people are trying to sell stuff for gold, but no one is buying... Again, being two totally different things.
