yesterday i played without any problems.
Today i cant even run diablo 2 - got exeption c000005 instantly. Now i can launch the game after DEP is turned on. But when connecting to realm, i have this exception :(
Any ideas?
turn DEP off for everything but essential windows processes, run as admin, try win 7 compat mode.
Looks like you're in game now! :) Thanks for assisting him PmP!

I kept DEP turned on, excluded game.exe from d2 folder, now working!

Glad to hear! Hopefully others that run into this rare issue see this!

What do you mean by excluded game.exe from d2 folder? I'm having the exact same issue. (In that the error only comes up when I try connecting to the realm. Single player works fine)
