I think it would be awesome if we could have some sort of merc effect stone that turns your merc into different mobs/other models.

It's definitely a cool idea, but it's extremely hard to limit gear to just mercenaries, meaning I have no real of stopping people from using them on their own character. Something to look into in the future maybe!

Wouldn't be stones but simplest way to make this is giving mercenaries item with 0/0 durability. Chars cannot use it then.

just make different skins hireable, just like you hire cold fire or lightning merc in act 3.. make all have different skins
