    Drop Rates Question

    Hi there,

    Question for Game or anybody that have deeper knowledge then me of the mechanics of the game.

    Does Magic Find and/or the number of character in a game affect the following drop rate :

    - Keys (Countess, Summoner, Nih)
    - Frags
    - Essences
    - Enchant Scrolls
    - Trag Map, Puzzle box, Tyrael Key
    - Puzzle box from DL
    - Specific Unique Drop from each super boss
    - Cow Set from Inferno Cow queen/chest/cows
    - Runes

    So, is those drop rates Fixed or you can higher your chances ?

    Based of my expiriense, i can say mf doesnt affect on all of these items

    - Runes same as normal bnet as far as I know, scales with number of playes in game

    All of them except cow queen are not effected by mf. Cow queen might but, but I am not sure about that one. I'm not sure about the chests either. As for player number, I think its the same as with keys/frags. The drop rate is higher if there are more players in game. That being said it usually isn't worth it to take on the harder bosses with a lot of players in game. With the exception of Cow Queen, if its in a special area that isnt on normal bnet, its generally more efficient to do it on players 1 (if soloing) in my experience. Although I'd be curious if anyone else has any suggestions on the optimal number of toons to have in game when soloing the higher difficulty bosses.

    i'd say 3-4 loaders is optimal

    Magic Find doesn't affect anything in your list at all. All Magic Find does is when an item type drops, it decides if it is white, magic, rare, set, or unique. The more Magic Find you have, the higher the chances of it being more than just a white / blue. Since the special boss items / puzzle boxes etc are set to ALWAYS be unique, set, or whatever, Magic Find will not affect these. Runes are always white, so similar situation for them. Magic Find is good in just about every area except for bosses that have a specific loot table designated.

    As for people discussing the player count affecting things, it can affect things that can drop from every monster (given the monster is high enough level). Meaning, player count can increase the chance you get a rune, puzzlebox, and enchantment. It will not help on boss specific uniques / sets.
