SotR Beta Changelog: October 14th, 2022

    SotR Beta October 14th Changelog:

    General:

    • FSR scaling has been added, allowing the game to be upscaled to any resolution. This will allow users to play the game in borderless full screen while actually improving the quality of the graphics.

    • Sven's Glide and Bolrog's D2DX graphics are now officially supported. Changes have been made to optimize them specifically for Annihilus, we highly recommend trying these out with the new FSR scaling and letting us know what you think so we can ensure these are polished and ready for the upcoming public release. You can adjust your preferences via the launch by clicking Options > Game Settings. (Thanks to Necrolis for all of the hard work on the graphics updates!)

    • The in-game resolution has been increased to 1360x768, which is now a 16:9 aspect ratio.

    • Map Reveal has been readded, and an option to toggle it on/off is available under "Automap" settings in the in-game Esc menu.

    • Barbarian's skillset has been reworked! Specific details can be found in the class section below.

    Classes:

    Amazon

    • Agility now gains 1% additional run speed every 1 base skill point instead of every 2 base skill points.

    • Endurance's base life and life per level has been increased.

    Assassin

    • Blade Sentinels will no longer avoid enemies that are poisoned.

    • Fire Bomb's damage per level has been increased at later levels.

    • Shock Web's Damage per level has been increased at level 20+.

    • Charged Bolt Sentry's Damage per level has been increased at level 20+.

    • Wake of Fire's Damage per level has been slightly increased at level 20+.

    • Lightning Sentry's damage per level has been increased at later levels.

    Barbarian

    • Sunder has been renamed to Seismic Slam. Base damage and damage per level at level 20+ has been increased. Seismic Slam's shockwave base radius has been increased and now scales heavier based on weapon range. Seismic Slam's shockwave will release a second ring of rocks that deals 75% of Seismic Slam's damage if hitting an enemy already affected by Seismic Slam.

    • Shield Throw's base damage and damage per level at level 20+ has been increased, and damage now additionally scales based on your total Defense. Base amount of bounces has been increased to 5, and now caps at 12 bounces; up from 10.

    • Rend is now a level 5 skill, and has switched places on the skill tree with Armor Break. Base cleave range has been increased, damage per level has been increased, and ring of blood base radius has been increased while also receiving new visuals.

    • Avalanche now carries 40% Weapon Damage. Base flat damage has been slightly decreased, but damage per level has been increased. Cooldown has been increased to 1 second. Radius and duration has been increased, and no longer has a nexthit delay.

    • Frenzy's base damage and damage per level has been increased. Frenzy now grants frenzy charges for each swing, maxing out at 10 charges instead of being based on skill level. Charges still grant increased run speed, attack speed, and physical damage. Range scaling has been modified to take the new charge system into consideration as well, and is no longer tied to the skill level.

    • Berserk's base damage and damage per level has been increased. Now reduces damage taken instead of increasing damage taken. Damage is now also increased when at lower life, along with rage range. Base rage range has been increased, and scales further based on weapon range. Cooldown has been increased to 5 seconds, but the cooldown is now decreased by .4 seconds each time you take damage, up from .2. Mana cost has been slightly increased.

    • Armor Break is now a level 30 skill, and has switched places on the skill tree with Rend. Base damage and damage per level has been drastically increased. Armor Break has been reworked to now require a Two-Handed Sword, Axe, Mace, or Polearm, and will now deal damage and lower the physical resistance of all enemies in a wide radius around your main target. The radius will scale based on your weapon's base speed, and the damage and physical resistance reduction will now also be doubled against your main target.

    • Earthquake's base damage and damage per level has been drastically increased. Earthquake now also provides a temporary buff, causing you to cast Avalanche anytime you use a skill. The level of the Avalanche casted will be equal to your Avalanche level plus half of your Earthquake's level.

    • Whirlwind has been reworked. It will now function as an "aura" that automatically activates when you are near an enemy, continuously slicing all nearby units while allowing you to ignore unit collision. You can freely move and also use other skills while whirlwinding. Whirlwind's radius will scale with your weapon range, and the damage will scale with your weapon's base speed, with slower weapons dealing more damage. Whirlwind costs life while active instead of mana, and you cannot leech life while it is attacking. (Note: we may still switch to the previously teased version of Whirlwind if it is completed in time, depending on user feedback.)

    • War Cry has been reworked. It is now a passive skill that has a chance to be casted whenever you land a melee attack or when you are stuck. The chance for War Cry to be casted is increased when using a two-handed weapon. War Cry now carries 33% Weapon Damage, and base damage and damage per level has been drastically increased.

    • Roar now reduces all damage enemies deal, instead of just their physical damage. To take this change into consideration, Roar's damage reduction has been lowered. Now gains 1% additional attack / cast speed reduction per base skill point, down from 2%.

    • War Banner can now be casted onto a corpse from ranged distance, and no longer consumes the corpse.

    • Battle Command now has a set duration of 2 1/2 minutes. Mana cost is once again a scaling cost instead of 20% of your maximum mana. Battle Command now also grants increased run speed.

    • Increased Speed has been renamed to Resurgence, and now also decreases potion cooldowns.

    • Endurance's base life and life per level has been increased.

    Druid

    • Firestorm / Molten Boulder's damage per level has been increased, especially at later levels.

    • Cyclone Armor now increases your elemental resistances, and the absorption it gains per skill level now increases at higher levels instead of always being a flat +20 absorption.

    • Twister's damage per level has been increased, and its damage is now doubled while casted inside Tornado.

    • Fissure's base damage and damage per level has been increased, especially at later levels. Damage increase per fire skill casted afterwards has been increased.

    • Tornado's base damage and damage per level has been increased.

    • Eye of the Storm / Flame Hurricane's base damage and damage per level has been increased.

    • Volcano base damage and damage per level has been increased.

    • Hurricane's base damage and damage per level has been drastically increased. Now hits 3 times a second, up from 2.

    • Armageddon's base damage and damage per level has been drastically increased.

    • Feral Rage / Maul's cleave will now also hit your primary target, which will also trigger a hemorrhage if the target is marked by Blood Scent.

    • Fury's damage per level has been increased at later levels.

    • Shock Wave damage per level has been increased, and the aftershock damage is no longer less damage than Shock Wave itself.

    • Blood Hunt's base damage and damage per level has been increased.

    • Feral Howl's base damage and damage per level has been increased.

    • Rampage's base damage and damage per level has been increased.

    Necromancer

    • Iron Golem's thorns damage aura now matches what the skill description shows.

    • Poison Slash's damage per level has been increased, and submissiles now deal 50% weapon damage, up from 25%.

    • Bone Spike's damage per level has been increased at level 20+.

    • Bone Armor now increases your defense, and the absorption it gains per skill level now increases at higher levels instead of always being a flat +20 absorption.

    • Bone Appendage now grants cast speed equal to your total attack speed while Bone Armor is active.

    • Poison Nova's damage per level has been increased.

    • Poison Explosion's base damage and damage per level has been increased.

    • Corpse Explosion's damage per level has been increased.

    • Poison Maelstrom's base damage and damage per level has been increased, and now deals 33% weapon damage, up from 20%.

    • Bone Spear will now always trigger its sharpnel explosion, such as when the impale effect expires or when an impaled enemy dies. Hitting an enemy already impaled will still trigger the explosion immediately.

    • Soul Reaper's base execution damage has been increased to 30%, up from 10%.

    Sorceress

    • Hydra once again uses Fire Ball instead of Fire Bolt. Because of much more uptime now, especially with Pyroclasm, base damage and damage per level has been slightly lowered.

    Items:

    • Horadric Jewel's Horadric Cube damage will now also scale with additional jewels, instead of just the chance to throw scaling.

    Monsters:

    • Unstable Rift monsters are no longer considered flying monsters, and cannot fly over unwalkable terrain.

    • Duriel, Ancients, and Guardian of Terra have had their Avalanche level adjusted to take the Avalanche changes into consideration.

    Areas:

    • Some guaranteed loot has been added to the first 30 levels of Crucible to make early fails not feel so bad.

    Bugs:

    • Fixed a longstanding issue with the Diablo 2 client where having sound enabled can cause the game to lag.

    • Physical resistance tooltip now displays correctly when hovering over your Defense on the character sheet when using the "Combat Acrobatics" soul node.

    • Fixed a bug where certain skill cooldowns would not reduce properly upon meeting their conditions, the biggest example being Corpse Explosion not reducing its own cooldown when it killed enemies. This may indirectly cause other issues, please let us know if you find any!

    • Act 5 mercenaries can once again use one-handed swords.

    • User Interface panels no longer cover your experience bar progress.

    • The "options" button within the Launcher now functions correctly when left-clicking.
