Intro

Hey everyone! I'm gameguy999 and this is my beginner's guide to Annihilus' Legacy Server. This guide is designed to help new players to the server get started.

FAQ

  1. How do I get gold?

You can only buy from the website to support the server. Gold is only used for items from Hadriel. He sells cosmetics as wells as some crafting orbs and random runes (Runewords aren't really end game except for a couple which can later be replaced by uniques) as well as organs. Though they are useful, they are 100% not necessary to play/complete all the content.

Starter Builds

Sorceress

Cold Sorceress - Frozen Orb or Blizzard are decent starter builds for sorceress. The built in cold pierce on Cold Mastery is really strong since it pierces immunes on Legacy. Having a character with access to teleport off the bat will make getting through the vanilla content faster as well as farming keys for torches and the Annihilus. Note: ES takes resistances into account on here so you will need resistances

Assassin

Trap Assassin is very good for farming cows early on due to having access to Corpse Explosion on Death Sentry. Once you kill 1 or 2 cows, Death Sentry will explode the corpses and start nuking all the cows around you. This is especially useful because of the increased density of cows.

Amazon

Bowazon is a very good starter for most content once you get a strong weapon like Eaglehorn. Multishot is great for clearing high density areas such as cows and Strafe is really strong for single target DPS. They are quite squishy though.

Barbarian

Shield Throw is a very good and safe option progressing through the game do to it being ranged/aoe and stunning targets. Once you get a strong weapon, you can use Whirlwind to start doing bosses.

Druid

Werebear druid with Shockwave is a pretty good starter build. It's tanky and does decent damage for bossing. Tornado Druid recently got a buff and is a very strong build as well though it will probably require a little more gear to get going than Werebear.

Necromancer

Summoner is a decent starter build since you have access to Corpse Explosion which makes clearing cows and maps a lot easier especially in a group.

Paladin

Blessed Hammer might be okay with the buffs to it, but prior to the last patch paladin was the worst starter and the few builds that made it viable for endgame required rare/endgame items.

Progression

So there is going to be 2 sections, one for solo progression, and one for group play. Both are similar.

Solo

If you are playing solo, I would highly recommend making extra accounts/characters as experience mules to join your games. There is no limit to how many clients you can open.

Note 1: Monster health does not scale with more players but their damage still does by 12.5% per character. Bonus experience caps at 16 players in game though you don't really need that many unless you really feel like pushing for 99.

Note 2: Player count doesn't increase drop rate

  1. Load your characters into game and party up. You can spectate your main character through the party window and you will still complete the quests on the characters spectating your main character.
  2. Complete act 1. After completing an act for the first time when the cinematic would play, you will want to re-join or make a new game. Otherwise your client will start lagging after a while.
    1. Optional: Normal Blood Raven has high chance of dropping low level uniques to help a starting player. Some players recommend running Raven a few times but I personally don't bother.
  3. Play through the act 2 until you get the cube. If you've had exp mules in game you should be level 25 or close to it.
  4. Go back to act 1 and get Wirt's Leg if you don't already have it and open up cows if you are level 25+. (You only need to cube the leg and you do not need to beat Baal. . You can't cancel access to cow level by killing cow king here either)
    1. If you want a little extra MF to maybe get some starter set/unique items you can fill your inventory with Lucky Dice from Hadriel for 2% MF/charm for free.
  5. Do cows until you're mid-high 50's. Depending on how exp mules you have in game, this may only take 1 run.
  6. Complete normal.
  7. Open cows in Nightmare and run cows til you're high 60's.
    1. If you need a little boost, I'd recommend gambling some rings/amulets and maybe some other pieces if you need them since shopping is free from vendors except for some items from Hadriel.
      1. +Skills and Enemy Resistance Pierce are huge stats for increasing your damage
  8. Complete Nightmare
  9. Open Cows in Hell and farm here for levels and gear until you feel ready to complete Hell.
  10. Complete Hell.

Group

  1. Play through Normal as far as you can get.
    2. If you want a little extra MF to maybe get some starter set/unique items you can fill your inventory with Lucky Dice from Hadriel for 2% MF/charm for free.
    3. If you find yourself struggling and in need of some levels you can go and open cows when you're level 25+ for really good exp. You can get up to high 50s doing just Normal cows. (You only need to cube the leg and you do not need to beat Baal. You can't cancel access to cow level by killing cow king here either)
  2. Repeat the previous steps but in Nightmare
  3. Repeat again for Hell

Gear Advice

Runewords

  • If you're level 87+ you will want to shop for some runeword bases. Possible Prefixes and Suffixes at Prefixes and Suffixes
    • Armor: Primarily, you will want a teleport armor base with enemy resistance pierce or +Skills for offense or Enhanced Defense + Phys Resist or All Resist + Max Resist for defense.
    • Helms: You'll want a helm with Resistance Pierce, or +Skills prefix with + All Attributes, + All Attributes %, +Life, or +Life per hit(This one is only useful for non casters)
  • Charsi in act 1 and Elzix in Act 2 are good places to shop. If you have a sorceress or a teleport base already you can just teleport in and out of town to reset the vendor's items.
    • BE AWARE OF THE MAX NUMBER OF SOCKETS AN ITEM CAN HAVE BEFORE WASTING ALL YOUR JEWELER ORBS ON AN ITEM TRYING TO GET AN IMPOSSIBLE NUMBER OF SOCKETS
  • Popular Runewords

Uniques

  • Many Elite Uniques are very strong along with some exceptional items.
  • In the Discord server or in game you may see people talking about World Drop Uniques. These are rarer versions of elite uniques and are generally very powerful and can be build enabling. These can only drop from lvl 87+ mobs. Below is a list of them.
Elite World Drop Armors
Elite World Drop Weapons

After Beating Hell

  1. From here, you can continue farming cows for some uniques/runes/essenses/orbs/marks/maps/enchantments/small charms/skiller grand charms/Ripped Letters
    1. Essenses are items that let you re-roll rares with a guaranteed tier 1 stat.
      1. Rings and amulets are good items to use them on to get enemy resistance pierce.
    2. Orbs apply different affects when right clicking them and using them on an item.
      1. Orb of the Jeweler will be useful for making runewords in magic items
    3. Marks are very rare items that have a purple text and can be used in the portal in Act 4 Hell town to go to very powerful bosses (Commonly referred to as trials). You get as many attempts as you want but they are very strong. There are several marks and the items that drop from them (Commonly referred to as trial items).
    4. Ripped Letters are items you can cube together to make a letter to Santa and fight Santa at the Christmas Tree in Act 1.
  2. Once you are ready, farming keys for torches is a good way to get some extra skills/stats/resists
    1. Ubers drop a Standard of Hell That you can cube 3 of to make a Black Soulstone which you can cube in act 4 to get to Diablo Clone for your Annihilus
  3. In order to do endgame bosses you will want Max Resists (95%) and high Physical Resists
  4. A good place to start is Dreamlands (An area in Tristram after beating Knarst)
    1. This area has 4 bosses that can drop a really strong set
  5. Some more difficult areas you can try are
    1. Final Fantasy 8 bosses in the portals in the Kurast Causeway
    2. Time Rift located in a portal by the waypoint in River of Flame
    3. Lich King located in an area in the Burial Grounds (Blood Raven) after beating Stitches in Plaguelands
  6. The final endgame area is called Crucible and it's an area in Act 1 town that has 17 Levels that you need to beat in 30 mins.
