It's definitely a cool idea, but it's extremely hard to limit gear to just mercenaries, meaning I have no real of stopping people from using them on their own character. Something to look into in the future maybe!
Wouldn't be stones but simplest way to make this is giving mercenaries item with 0/0 durability. Chars cannot use it then.
