    cold mastery

is it worth even to get more than 17 mastery? since it reaches 100 at 17

doesnt make sense to pierce resistances more then 100% since 100% is all there can be no?

    bit confused

    Wrong.

The way pierces work here, its best to have a total of arou d 175-200.

If a monster is cold immune with 125 cold res, a pierce total of 200 would take him down to -75 (-100 is the lowest allowed) meaning you do 75% more damage then what your spell has listed.

Don't forget to account for -cold res from gear when doing calculations.

Keep in mind that monsters can have above 200 resist for a single type of damage, and pierce can cause their resists to go negative, thus amplifying your damage heavily. I'd say you want to get as much pierce as you can without sacrificing other priorities.

This confusion is because back in 1.09d cold mastery worked the way you just said, but it would be impossible to reach 100% (in other words, remove all the cold resistance from the enemy).

Now it removes the amount said in the skill, as soulkush and acy said
