Managing Attachments

I've been very recently trying to add more than just text documents as attachments to posts by converting a word document to pdf which is supposed to be an acceptable extension for attachments, but for some reason it doesn't work. Neither did compressing the above to a zip file. Any one care to tell me what's up?

I think I figured out what the problem is. I think it is still possible to upload the above files, but they have to be a certain size limit. If you click on the ? on the right it will tell you the max size certain file types can be. The pdf I wanted to upload was clearly over the size limit. I'll try fiddling around a bit more.
